T3Pro™ Synthetic T3 Liothyronine supplement

Whilst at antiaging-systems.com we do strongly advocate researching natural thyroid supplement options (such as the range of Armour® thyroid tablets which are available in several dosage options and contain the full spectrum of thyroid hormones), T3Pro™ tablets are a potent synthetic alternative which have been well received in the treatment of thyroid related health conditions such as Hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s Disease.

Levothyroxine (T4) is the most common form of thyroid hormone replacement therapy, however T3Pro™ tablets contain Liothyronine (L-T3). In individuals with no thyroid disorders present, Liothyronine is produced naturally in the thyroid gland, but in individuals with conditions such as hypothyroidism, L-T3 levels will fall to abnormally low levels. This in turn causes some of the classic symptoms of Hypothyroidism, such as weight gain, dry skin, tiredness and cold sensitivity.

Using a supplement like T3Pro™ helps to raise T3 levels back to normal levels, in turn helping to reduce the symptoms of low LT3 levels.

Choosing Between a Synthetic and a Natural Thyroid Supplement

With so many options available on the market, it can be difficult to choose between a synthetic and a natural thyroid supplement. As above, we do advocate natural thyroid supplements over synthetic in the main, as they contain the full spectrum of Thyroid hormones as opposed to just one. That being said, as T3 is the most potent of all the thyroid hormones, taking a synthetic thyroid supplement like T3Pro™ can produce fast relief of the symptoms associated with thyroid disorder.

Liothyronine acts rapidly once absorbed in the body, within a few hours. With that in mind, T3Pro™ tablets have been developed on a slow-release basis, which helps to negate the side effects that have been associated with other synthetic T3 tablets, such as rapid heart rate, sleep issues and anxiety.

When looking at the difference between Synthetic and Natural thyroid supplements, please note that natural thyroids are measured in grains whereas synthetic are measured in micrograms (mcg).

As always, we recommend consulting with a physician for anything you are not entirely sure about!

Liothyronine L-T3 FAQ

Why is L-T3 not the most common way to treat Hypothyroidism or Hashimoto’s?

T3 is known to be more potent that T4, so it can be harder to balance the levels – an excess of T3 will lead to Hyperthyroidism, which also has its own risks to health. In addition, taking T3 can cause side effects such as rapid heart rate or anxiety if uncontrolled.

There will always be exceptions and it is important that anyone interested in supplementing with thyroid hormone seeks the guidance of their physician.

Are there any conditions for which you would not recommend taking T3Pro™ tablets?

We would not recommend individuals take T3Pro™ tablets if they have any of the following health conditions or circumstances:

  • Pregnancy/breastfeeding
  • Known sensitivity or allergies to Liothyronine
  • Cardiovascular issues – L-T3 can worsen existing CV issues such as angina or heart disease
  • Adrenal insufficiency – L-T3 can worsen this condition
  • Anyone taking other drugs – guidance should be sought in case of negative drug interactions
  • Hyperthyroidism – T3Pro™ tablets are not a recommended treatment in the case of Hyperthyroidism, where the thyroid fland produces excessive levels of thyroid hormones.

Can I switch between synthetic and natural thyroid supplements?

Whilst technically the answer is yes, it is important to understand how each supplement works and be consistent with what you use. Thyroid levels in the body have to be relatively stable over a period of time in order to feel consistently well. Caution must be taken in order to avoid massive fluctuations, as well as a thorough understanding of the conversion between dosages of synthetic and natural supplements.

ERFA Thyroid have produced the table below. This provides a helpful guide as to what the suggested conversion rates are for those wishing to make the switch between synthetic thyroids and natural versions. As always, we recommend consulting with a physician for anything you are not entirely sure about!

Natural thyroids are measured in grains and we carry the popular Armour Thyroid brand in grains from ¼ grain to 2 grain. As well as the ERFA Thyroid and Nature Thyroid products in grains from ½ grain to 2 grain. All our natural thyroid supplements are of porcine origin.
