Professor Vladimir Khavinson from the St. Petersburg Biogerontology Institute in Russia first discovered short-chain peptides in the 1980s and has conducted a wide range of research into this area since. Since it was discovered that human DNA and short-chain peptides are linked, peptide skin care has been a growing field to reduce the visible signs of aging.
We looked above at the peptides contained in the Youth Gems® range; these come from the cartilage, blood vessels, pineal gland and thymus gland.
Testing and clinical trials that have taken place at the St. Petersburg Biogerontology Institute have shown that skin cells benefit from the application of topical skin care products that utilise peptide technology.
Current research into the links between metabolism and blood-vessel peptides shows how these help restore metabolism in vascular cell walls to normal levels, despite negative environmental factors.
