Forziga is used in the treatment of people with Type 2 diabetes aged 10 or over, those suffering from heart failure and those who have chronic kidney disease.
Astra Zenica Forxiga – Dapagliflozin
- Forxiga should be used only if the condition is not able to be managed by exercise and diet. It can be used alone, or alongside other medicines in the treatment of Type 2 diabetes.
- Dapafliflozin helps the body to get rid of extra sugar through urine.
Heart disease
- This is a condition where the heart does not work and pump blood as well as it should.
- Dapagliflozin helps to reduce the amount of work the heart has to do in pumping blood around the body.
Chronic kidney disease
- Chronic kidney disease (CKD) varies in severity. It is the name for a condition where the kidneys do not work properly, causing problems such as tiredness, shortness of breath, muscle cramps, insomnia, blood in your urine headaches, ED in men and other symptoms. In extreme cases, they stop work altogether (known as kidney failure).
- Dapagliflozin works by blocking the SGLT2 protein, which reduces pressure and inflammation in the kidneys.
Taking Astra Zenica Forxiga – Dapagliflozin
- Please take tablets whole with water.
- These can be taken with or without food.
- They can be taken at any time of day; we would recommend taking at the same time each day to ensure you remember to take it.
Side effects
There are no long term side effects associated with taking Forziga (dapagliflozin). It is classed as safe to take for an extended period of time.
