Stomach Problems

Most stomach aches usually pass within a few days and are nothing to worry about. However, there are some causes of stomach ache/issues that can be an ongoing issue for many. Stomach aches can be divided into upper and lower abdominal issues.

• Causes of upper abdominal aches and pains could be a symptom of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, gastritis, gastroparesis and gallstones.
• Causes of lower stomach pains could be celiac disease, diverticular disease, inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Most of these diseases are a result of eating too much or too little of certain types of food. For example, IBS can be a result of someone eating a type of food that does not agree with their body and in turn causing a stomach ache. Limiting food that causes irritation is a good place to start but certain peptides, dietary supplements and probiotics can help to normalize the function of the stomach.
