Kidney Disorders

Kidney disorders, sometimes known as kidney disease, vary in type and can be caused by multiple factors.

• The most common form of kidney disorder is chronic kidney disease, which is where high blood pressure causes the kidneys to deteriorate, therefore kidney function declines and they cannot clean your blood properly. Chronic kidney disease cannot be cured, only treated.
• Kidney stones – these are caused by minerals and other substances which form solid masses (the “stones”).
• Polycystic kidney disease – a genetic disorder that causes small sacs of fluid, “cysts”, to grow in the kidneys. They can affect kidney function and even lead to kidney failure.
