Health Education Advice

Impotence, more specifically "erectile dysfunction," is a frequent problem that affects many men, particularly as they grow older. This is the inability to obtain or maintain erection of the penis so as to achieve penetration in sexual relations. This problem may arise now and again or be of a temporary nature. If so, no treatment is required. Even if the problem is surmounted with difficulty, it should not be regarded as an illness. Nevertheless, if this problem lasts longer than 3 months, consult your doctor. He may prescribe a treatment for you or orient you towards the treatment method best suited to you, after first dealing with certain organic causes such as high blood pressure, diabetes, neurological or hormonal disorders and/or certain causes of impotence such as smoking or alcohol abuse. Please note that numerous medicines can also cause erectile dysfunction: medicines used for the treatment of high blood pressure, certain cardiovascular diseases, anxiety or depression. If such is the case, your doctor can modify your treatment. Never do this yourself.
