Control your cholesterol with Zocor

Zocor reduces the amount of ‘bad’ cholesterol in the body whilst increasing the amount of ‘good’ cholesterol

Zocor is used to reduce the total amounts of LDL (bad) cholesterol, triglycerides (another type of fat) and apolipoprotein B (a protein needed to make cholesterol) in the blood. Zocor is also used to increase the level of HDL (good) cholesterol in the blood.

Zocor is sometimes used as a supplement for patients with high cholesterol when diet and exercise are inadequate. For patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) and high cholesterol, Zocor is indicated as an addition to diet to reduce the risk of coronary death. It can also be used to reduce the risk of heart attack and of undergoing cardiac procedures (coronary artery bypass grafting and percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty).

Other accepted uses include gallstone prevention (as a combination therapy), lipid disorders due to kidney disease, and possibly improving the balance of LDL and HDL in combination with estrogen in post-menopausal women.

The best way to lower cholesterol is through a program of healthy diet and exercise, and these should be maintained during treatment with Zocor.

Dosage:
The usual starting daily dose is 20mg, up to a maximum of 80mg. Individuals who are over 60, or have compromised immune systems (due to illness or major surgery), may start on 5mg daily. Individual dosage should be based on medical condition, and therefore set by a doctor.

Note: We strongly recommend that CoQ10 is taken along with all statins as they inhibit natural CoQ10 production.
