How does Flucanazole work?

Many fungal infections are reliant on an enzyme called cytochrome P-450. By inhibiting this enzyme, the make-up of the membranes that surround fungal cells is disrupted. If these membranes cannot grow, then neither can the infection.

As a fungicide, Fluconazole can be quickly absorbed into the blood at levels high enough to enable penetration of infected surfaces and the destruction of fungus. After an oral dose, Fluconazole is almost completely absorbed within two hours.

For some conditions such as vaginal Candidasis, a single dose may be all that is required while other conditions usually require a daily dose over a specified period of time. Depending on the condition, the usual adult dose is between 50-400 mg daily, but you should always ask your doctor for advice before taking any course of medicine.

Are there any side effects?

Loitin capsules are generally well tolerated, but it’s possible that users may feel some side effects. The most common are minor side effects like headaches, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhoea and flatulence.

Do not take Loitin capsules if you have a known hypersensitivity to Fluconazole or any of the ingredients used in Loitin. Patients with impaired renal function are also at risk as are those currently taking drugs such as Warfarin.

It has also been reported that Loitin may decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills and should not be taken by pregnant women, except in the case of serious or potentially-fatal infections.
